I couldn't agree more with mysti-'s
comments. I just came upon your blog
and I am very impressed.

I arguably don't even need to save
50% of my income since I have a pension
that kicks in 9 years (I'll be 40 then-
pretty early, but not extremely early
retirement), but I have been doing so my entire working career because I was TAUGHT the importance of a high rate of savings by my father and my grandfather. My wife and I
plan to teach our son the same thing.

He's only 8 months old, but I'm already wondering if there'll be anyone left in his generation who really gets the saving and living-well-within your means idea by then...

Maybe they can incorporate part of your
blog into a superhero cartoon series for
kids on DVD... I'd BUY it.

Thanks for what you do.

I wish you and your wife would have some kids as I bet they would turn out a lot wiser than most.

You are on the right ticket.

Thinking about this even before you have children.

I am sure your plans may be tweaked here and there, but the principle is very sound.

Good for you. Your kids may be bellyaching like mad in the beginning, but they will be forever grateful in the end.

Wow! That is extreme, but I guess it makes sense. And why not save 50% starting at that age- it's not like a kid is going to miss spending $4 or something.

Good idea!

You left out one important factor. DON"T TOUCH THE MONEY !!!

Most people intend to do all of that, however thanks to immediate gratification and other wants and emergency. It never goes that smooth.

People lose jobs, have children, get sick and get unexpected bills. Net worth always fluctuates thanks to little emergencies

Good post, but it hard to do for most
