I haven't bothered looking at GE in particular, but what I keep asking myself before I buy is, "Can they pay the dividend if profits get cut in half?"

GE is one of my biggest losers in 2008, with a 50% loss from my entry price.. The dividend is great, but I am starting to wonder if they could keep it. Furthermore they won't be increasing untill 2009 so I guess I might have to look elsewhere. :-)

I almost bought DEO..

I just bought GE stock earlier this month at a little over $19 a share. Too bad I didn't buy it at $14.61 a share. As long as they keep paying their dividend, which will be about a 7% yield for me, I'll be happy with the purchase.
