Interesting. I didn't think I would read this here. But I discovered the same thing.

I have been using the same $120 pair of sunglasses (Arnette) for 15 years. And 3 years ago I bought a pair of jeans for $150. Yes, they look very nice. $150 is a fantastic sum considering that most people I know buy jeans for $20 to $40.

However, I only wear that one pair (yes everyday), and they will last for at least 7 more years. So, that means they might cost $15/year. Which is a lot less than most people spend on jeans.

I would normally agree. I just had the zipper on my REI jacket replaced free of charge due to the lifetime warranty, after wearing it regularly for 5 years. The sunglasses are just a bad example for me as well because I usually lose them within 3 months.

Good point. I completely agree with this. Although there are sometimes exceptions -- my husband, for example, breaks any pair of sunglasses within 4 weeks, so we never buy him expensive shades anymore. But I'm still using the same pair from 3 years ago. And another point -- getting quality at a discount is even better!! I grew tired of buying cheap $20 slacks and having them fray or the seams sag or give out. I went to the clearance rack at Macy's and found $80 slacks for $8 and $13 and have been wearing them ever since and they *still* look great a year later.
