As a martial artist, your next required Gee should be made of weighted clothing..an extra 15 lbs to your techniques, stretching, and form training will have you gaining muscle and losing fat all over.

@Redsted1 - With the clubbells I started doing swipes almost exclusively once I could do swings. The swipe is the biggest compound movement I know that can be done for power. I also trained mills just to get the form right. (The competitions are swipes and mills.) If you can do swipes, you'll be sufficiently strong to do mills though.

Jacob--would you be able to post some clubbell workouts? Kettlebell workouts seem to be easier to come by, I'm having difficulty figuring out what exercises to do with clubbells. I'm definitely thinking I'll invest in both KB's and CB's soon and cut the gym membership.

I love those pullup bars. You can get ones that are movable too. They're very versatile and a great workout!

OK, I had to stop and giggle at your first paragraph. I love falling- at least if I don't get too hurt. A spontaneous fall or trip is a great rush + it reminds me not to take things too serious.
My favorite free cardio exercises are hiking, snowshoeing and running (in that order!).
I liked the rest of the article too!

Joel - I find high intensity interval training using kettlebells or clubbells or even a pushup-burpee combination to be sufficient to maintain a high level of cardio... enough to run a fast 5k with no problems anyway. For a "pure cardio play", I'd go for the humble jump rope. I've never found that necessary though. My endurance limitations seem to be more sports specific e.g. lack of joint stamina for extended running, wrist pain for biking ... so if I was going specifically for a sport, I'd just to that sport. For overall cardio, the HIIT is enough.

I think you have alot of wonderful info here, Jacob. Being an active person myself, I love reading new things like this. Kettle bells are an incredible workout. I've been reading your blog for quite sometime now, but I just wanted to clarify: what do you suggest for cardiovascular activity? Just your daily commute via bicycle? Or do you suggest running/walking x amount of miles each day? Obviously if someone is following the ERE diet keeping the "chub" off shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'd be interested to read a "Part 3" for this subject, lots of great info.

@Steve - Nope! Now, I just pull ropes on a boat. Yesterday I surprised myself by being able to do a one-armed swipe with the bruiser clubbell.

Not me, but same size clubbell and exercise.
