Strength training is an important part of fitness. Recent studies show that it is more important than cardio exercise. Traditional weight lifting is effective. Look for used gym equipment at garage sales or on craigs list. A simple bench, dumbbells and a barbell with weights will get the job done. There are newer options available. Crossfit is popular, and the Crossfit website posts daily workouts. Information on other workouts like P90 or Kettlebells can be found on sites like bodybuilding.com. Look on ebay or similar places for used copies of DVD-based workouts. Mark Sisson's webiste also has workouts available.
