To test the hypothesis of widespread dissemination of books in book stores, let’s perform a little test. Go forth to your LBS (that’s local book store this time, not local bike shop as usual) and see if you can find the following titles:
- Your Money: The Missing Manual by J. D. Roth
- 365 Ways to Live Cheap by Trent Hamm
- 10,001 Ways to Live Large on a Small Budget by Wisebread
- I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
- The Simple Guide to a Minimalist Life by Leo Babauta
- The Frugal Duchess by Sharon Harvey Rosenberg
- Debt is Slavery by Michael Mihalik (For anyone either in debt or contemplating debt like mortgages and car loans, this book is gold. I don’t think you guys are going to learn anything new, but it’s a quick read and a good gift.)
- Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin, Joe Dominquz, and Monique Tilford
- The Complete Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn
Report back 🙂
(If you have bought or seen any similar titles in physical stores, that counts too. My concern is that even though books may be distributed in principle, it does not hold in practice given that 75,000 new titles are published annually.)
